Interpret:

What is your interpretation/analysis of the book on a deeper level?

  1. My interpretation/analysis of the book on a deeper level is that Pi will eventually get into some sort of trouble. I predict that the events that are being described in the story are foreshadowing later events that will occur.

  2. I think that the prusten noise that the tiger makes will eventually mean that Pi and the tiger might get along. I believe that the death of the orangutan, hyena, and zebra forshadowes that all the animals on the boat will die in some sort of way.

  3. The beginning of the story talks about Pi's confusion with three different religions and about the zoo. After the people from the different religions all confront him, I think he will begin to see that those religions aren't true and use nature as his religion.

  4. My interpretation of "Life of Pi" is simply that the author is trying to convey a message of 'holding steadfast'. Whether hanging onto beliefs or hopes, holding steadfast to anything will always prevail. Pi's situation was devastating. Not only was he trapped on a life boat, but also, Pi was alone; he was isolated on a ship heading towards the unknown. What was yet to come could not have been much worse than his loss of his family though. Pi's holding steadfast to his hope to return to land led him to land. I believe his persistence and his unwavering faith and hope to make it off that boat alive was what saved him.
Pi could have given up and said "enough is enough". With a tiger on board and a sea surrounding him, taking his own life and taking an easy way out such as suicide could have been simple, but not Pi. My further analyzation of Pi's bravery to endure hardships rather than give up on them was inspiring and his message will stay with me.
